A better handle on your fertility, from home
Egg Check measures AMH, the hormone used to estimate your egg reserve, that is roughly how many eggs remain in your ovaries.

What is AMH, really?
AMH is a hormone produced by the small follicles in your ovaries and is used to estimate your egg reserve - an estimate of how many eggs you have, though it can't say exactly how many remain.
Since women are born with all the eggs they will ever have, the number declines naturally with age. As the number of follicles falls, AMH levels drop too. Measuring AMH therefore gives you a better picture of where you stand today.
Why can testing be valuable?
It can be a valuable tool if you're planning to wait to have children, considering egg freezing, or just want to understand your body better. AMH can also indicate whether your egg reserve is lower or higher than expected for your age - which in some cases is relevant for, for example, early menopause or polycystic ovary syndrome.
It's worth remembering that AMH can't say how easy or hard it will be to get pregnant, nor anything about egg quality. But it can provide important information about your reproductive health and be a key piece in understanding your fertility better.
Who is the test relevant for?
Egg Check can be relevant for you if you:
- want to understand more about your fertility
- are planning to have children now or further ahead
- are considering freezing eggs and want a handle on your egg reserve
- want more knowledge about your body and your starting point
What's the difference between egg reserve and egg quality?
They sound similar but mean different things.
→Egg reserve is about the quantity of remaining eggs and follicles in the ovaries. It can be estimated with an AMH test or ultrasound.
→Egg quality is about the biological and genetic quality of the eggs, that is the proportion that are chromosomally normal and have the potential to develop into a healthy embryo. Egg quality can't be measured directly with a blood test; it is usually estimated based on age and sometimes indirectly through embryo development in IVF.
The test can be taken any day of your cycle, and it works even if you use hormonal contraception such as the pill or a hormonal IUD.

Frequently asked questions
Is Maybe Baby's home test reliable?
Yes, very. Our sampling method is validated by an independent hospital lab where capillary blood (the small finger-prick) was compared with traditional venous blood tests (taken from the arm) on 60-125 people per hormone.
The results show a correlation of 0.85-0.98 for the most important fertility and sex hormones, which in practice means the sample you take at home gives results comparable to traditional blood tests taken in healthcare.
Your samples are analyzed by ISO 15189-accredited laboratories (accredited via COFRAC) used by doctors and fertility specialists, following the same quality standards used in healthcare for clinical assessment.
Who is Maybe Baby's test for?
Maybe Baby's test is for anyone who wants to understand their fertility better - whether you're curious, planning for the future or just want a better handle on your hormones and your health.
Should you test your fertility if you're not planning children soon?
It's often the best time, actually. The results can be very valuable when you're not under time pressure - they can give a clearer picture of how your body works, and if something stands out there's time to understand and act. As we like to say: the more you know today, the more choices you have tomorrow.
Can I test if I use hormonal contraception?
Yes, absolutely! You can take the test even if you use a hormonal IUD, the pill or other hormonal contraception.
Once you've ordered your test you answer a number of questions about your health and any contraception. That information helps us adapt the analysis so you get as relevant and accurate a report as possible.
AMH Test (Maybe Baby Egg Check): AMH can be tested reliably even if you're on hormonal contraception.
Read more about the markers in your test →What does it mean if something stands out in my results?
It doesn't automatically mean something is wrong, or that you'll have trouble getting pregnant. Some values can sit outside the reference range without affecting fertility, while others may be worth following up.
That's why you don't just get numbers, but a personal report that helps you understand what the results mean for you. If you want to go further, you can also book a digital consultation with a fertility doctor as an add-on.

Which markers do you test?
With Maybe Baby Egg Check we analyze AMH - a biomarker that reflects your egg reserve.
With Maybe Baby Complete you get a broader picture with 12 markers covering egg reserve, ovulation, androgens and hormone balance, thyroid and energy.
See all 12 markers in your test →Can Maybe Baby's test be compared to a fertility investigation?
Since a clinical fertility investigation can include several parts - such as blood tests, sperm tests and ultrasound - our test doesn't replace one. The Maybe Baby home test measures the hormones that are usually the first step in such an investigation.
You get a handle on your hormones at home, at your own pace. And if you want to go further the option is there - both digitally and in person. Via our selected partner clinics you can add, for example, an ultrasound for a complete medical assessment.
