Why is iron so important for your body?

Iron is a vital mineral that carries oxygen to every cell in your body. Without enough iron, you can feel tired, dizzy, and unfocused. Iron deficiency is especially common in women due to menstrual bleeding and can affect everything from your energy to your fertility.

What's included in Maybe Baby's hormone test?

An amazing and incredibly important product! Easy to use and provided informative and clear information about my fertility. Highly recommend!

Levinia

Apart from a slightly scary prick, the whole Maybe Baby experience was positive! The results were clear and easy to understand. The wait felt a bit long for me due to weekends and holidays, so it was also appreciated when you informed me about the delay.

Jessica

Good instructions on how to perform the test, nice to have both a summary and more detailed information about the different parts of the results.

Molly

The most wonderful treatment and I still have great contact with you. So incredibly grateful for what you do. So happy that I got to experience the wonderful thing you've created.

Iron Status

Iron Status

Iron Iron (serum)

Think of iron as the oxygen taxi - it carries oxygen from your lungs to every cell in your body, so everything works as it should.

What does it do?

Iron is a central part of hemoglobin in your red blood cells. Hemoglobin binds oxygen in the lungs and carries it to all of the body's tissues. Iron is also needed for energy production in cells and for a functioning immune system.

Why does it matter?

Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world and disproportionately affects women. Symptoms can be vague - fatigue, hair loss, dizziness, heart palpitations - and are often confused with stress. Knowing your iron levels helps you take control of your health.

Reference range: Serum iron in women: 9-30 umol/L. Levels vary throughout the day and are affected by diet, so they're interpreted together with ferritin for a complete picture.
